Rachel is patiently waiting for the camels to show up. They were due in at 8am...it's now 9:45...and they are nowhere in sight. Sitting in leaves and playing in the dust and dirt is a fine way to pass some time. It looks like fall probably to most of you, but it is probably nearing 100 degrees by 10am, and there hasn't been rain here since last October.
Samuel and Alan took an hour long ride on this lovely specimen. (They finally left around 11am) Samuel had no fear. He didn't even seem to mind the lurching and jostling of getting up and down. This is a "hang on for dear life" experience! It had one of the other (adult) riders screaming, and another child rider (who declined to actually go) of the same age in tears. It must be those rides on Aunt Liz's horse! Needless to say, he had a blast and wanted to go again next week...
Lest you think that camels are all cute and sweet, click on the photo, and note the man at the back of the last camel. He is the camel wrangler. He has one arm. A camel was less than kind to him many years ago...and yet he still works with them...
