In early January, everyone from SIM Niger travelled to Niamey for the annual spiritual life conference. We had a wonderful time of refreshment and good Biblical teaching and worship. On the way back from the conference, on January 8th, one of our missionary colleagues was involved in an accident. The car rolled twice, and there were two minor injuries and one major injury to the passengers in the car. Yoko, my friend and colleague was most seriously injured. She was taken back to Niamey where she underwent emergency brain surgery to evacuate a blood clot and repair damage to one of the veins in her brain. The Lord was gracious, and spared her life. She has been released recently from the hospital and is slowly recovering in Niamey. Together she and I organize and run the Galmi guesthouse, and missionary housing here at Galmi. It is uncertain what the future holds at this point, but it looks as if Yoko will make a full recovery. It will just take some time. We are thankful that the Lord was looking after all in the vehicle, and that other missionaries were quickly on the scene after the accident. They were able to quickly assess what needed to happen, and give the passengers all the care and attention that they needed.
