Ok, just a short little blog today. Many of you may not remember bottled Cokes, and pull tabs on cans, but they are the norm here in Niger. Also those of you from the UK may remember Bitter Lemon (I don't think it ever made its debut across the big pond). Most of these things disappeared sometime in the 70's I think--not sure about the Bitter Lemon... Anyway, we do enjoy a soda periodically, and were recently brought some of the cans as a gift. This sparked some nostalgia, and we thought you might like a short trip down memory lane with us...oh, and if you are looking for diet Coke, you are pretty much out of luck here, unless you can find it in Niamey. As we only get there between 2-3 times a year on average, we tend to stick with the basics here. As a side note, Mountain Dew is only a more recent addition to the choices here, with Sprite, Fanta, and Coke being most easily and readily available. If anyone would like to sample a "bottle of memories" to determine if Coke is really better from a glass bottle, we would be happy to put you up for a short visit! Hope to see you soon!
