Armed with "new" aprons (passed down from other missionaries)Samuel and Rachel are "helping" mommy cook dinner. (We are down to the essentials these days--with temps on the rise.) Samuel has the "important part" with holding the recipe book, and Rachel is passing Mum the utensils and measuring spoons as needed. We are making Grandma's meatballs, one of the kid's favourite dishes. Rachel often ends up on top of the counter watching as I do the dishes, bake, or prepare dinner. She likes to comment that things are 'hot' when they come out of the oven, or when I'm lighting the stove with a match. Samuel likes to help stir, and do all of the "important parts" when helping.
